e.tv’s ‘Scandal!’ mourns crew member Gary Megit after accident on-set

Popular e.tv soapie “Scandal!” is mourning the loss of their beloved crew member, Gary Megit, who tragically passed away after a serious accident on set. The news of his passing has left the cast and crew devastated. Taking to their official social media platforms, “Scandal!” shared a heartfelt tribute to Megit, acknowledging the deep shock and sadness surrounding his death. “We are shocked and deeply saddened to share the passing of our dear crew member, Gary Megit. Gary suffered a serious accident on set last week and tragically passed away in the hospital on Sunday,” the post read. “Our hearts go out to Gary’s family during this incredibly difficult time. Megit, who worked as a vision controller on the long-running soapie, was injured while assisting with the movement of a section of the “Scandal!” set. Despite efforts to assist him, Megit tragically succumbed to his injuries in the hospital. In a statement shared with IOL, Stan Joseph, CEO of Ochre Moving Pictures—the production company behind “Scandal!”—expressed the devastation felt by the entire team. “This is a time of immense sadness. Our deepest condolences go out to Gary’s family. We are a very close-knit team on the show and are heartbroken by what’s happened. Gary was a cherished member of the team and will remain in our hearts forever. “Joseph also emphasized the show’s commitment to the safety and well-being of its cast and crew, saying, “We take the safety of our cast and crew very seriously. This was an unforeseen and tragic accident.”

News of Megit’s passing broke on Monday, with reports confirming that he had been severely injured while working on a “Scandal!” spin-off production. Entertainment commentator Phil Mphela shared the details, noting that the crew member had been rushed to the hospital, where he later passed away from his injuries. The entertainment community and fans alike have expressed their condolences and support online. Reign Nombuso Nkosi Sibeko shared, “Yoh, he’s literally family to all Scandal viewers even though we didn’t know how he looked like.
